In 2024, Josh prepared the beautiful, modern stallion Happy Al- Z, barn name Thrasher, for his inspection for a client. He liked him a lot, so when he got the opportunity to buy him, he didn't hesitate. The young stallion already showed so much presence, athleticism and a superb brain. Josh & Autumn trained him under saddle and that all went as smooth as one could wish for. Happy Al honors his name as he is always in a good mood. Around other horses he is a true gentleman and very well behaved.
Happy Al Z was bred by well- known breeder Theo Alders in The Netherlands. He has an impressive pedigree. His dam line has produced numerous sport horses in different disciplines, mostly showjumping. His sire is H-Ekwador, a son of the famous eventing sire Heraldic XX. Heraldik was without a doubt one of the best breeding thoroughbred stallion in modern sport horse breeding. Heraldik himself performed at World Cup level in International Showjumping and was in the top sire rankings for years for being such a successful sire of eventing, jumping and dressage horses.
H-Ekwador himself carries 73% Thoroughbred and some of the best performing showjumping genes. But he actually has enjoyed a hugely successful dressage career, with 32 international wins and scores of +77% at Grand Prix level. He has appeared at three World Cup finals, three successive European Championships, the 2010 World Equestrian Games and the 2012 London Olympic Games, finishing in the top 25 individually at two European Championships and at WEG. From H-Ekwador’s damline, we also see the fascinating proven Holsteiner line of Corofino I. Read more about H-Ekwador HERE.
As his versatile lineage promises, Happy Al Z has talent for dressage as well as jumping. Especially the cross country course makes him excited: with over 60% Thoroughbred himself it's not surprising that he has a lot of stamina in the course, great jumping technique, is brave and eager on the jump. Josh is currently competing him in dressage, where he scored over 70.250% in his first Third level test!
We bred a stunning colt by Happy Al Z in 2024, Up Up and Away CCE aka Olaf, out of our Hannoverian mare Fiesta by Florianus II. Happy Al really seems to be a modernizer, as Fiesta is quite classical- compact and short legged and he improved her type tremendously. He added length of leg and a modern, blood type with great ease in the movement and a lot of suppleness.
Happy Al passed his sport test for ISR/ Oldenburg NA this fall, which earned him a Lifetime breeding Approval. He passed with a beautiful score of 74,90%. We activated him with KWPN of North America, which means you don't have to pay outside stallion fee when you register your foals with them in 2026.
